ZUNHEBOTO FOREST DIVISION

Zunheboto district is home to the Sumi tribe, one of the major tribes of Nagaland. It has an area of 1570.35 sq km and a population of 1,40,757 with sex-ratio of 976 (Census India 2011). It has a population density of 112 per sq. km. The district is surrounded by Mokokchung and Tuensang districts in the North, Kiphire district in the East, Phek and Kohima districts in the South and Wokha district in the West.

The district headquarter has a scenic view of Doyang Hydel Project in the north-west, Tuzu valley in the south and ranges of Chingkhu and Satoi, the remains of natural forests and the immediate ranges of Saramati peak towards the east.

Zunheboto Forest Division was established in the year 1983-'84, it was earlier under Mokokchung division. The present administrative set up of Zunheboto division is; 5 forest ranges and 3 forest beats. It is manned by a total of 36 Executive staff and 13 regular ministerial staff.
