AWARENESS PROGRAMMES

AWARENESS PROGRAMMES IN THE DISTRICT

The rich biodiversity in the division is sadly threatened by range of pressures including unscientific and excessive extraction of forest products, destructive traditional practice and increase of human population resulting in increase of demand of forest resources among many factors. The ownership of land being very unique in our state, the need to raise awareness in biodiversity issues among local communities and ensure that local people are at the forefront of conservation has become the need of the hour.

Awareness programmes on conservation and protection of biodiversity are conducted at Divisional and Range/Beat levels across the Division from time to time. These are usually organised during globally recognized biodiversity days like World Environment Day, Earth Day, Word Forest Day, Wildlife Week, World Wildlife Day etc. They are also organised based on specific topics targeting certain areas/villages in the division when needed (Village with CCAs, CR, Human animal conflict areas etc.).

Some of the awareness programmes recently conducted in the division include;

  • Celebration of World Environment Day in the divisional Hq. and across the range and beats.
  • Awareness Programmes in villages with Community Reserves in the Division namely Lizuto CR, Khekiye CR, Atoizu CR and Chishilimi CR.
  • Awareness programme in Sukhai for Members of Tizu Valley Biodiversity Conservation and Livelihood Network along with Sukhai BMC, Kivikhu BMC and Ghukhuyi BMC and the villagers.
  • Awareness programme in villages under NFMP Project.
